Travis Perkins Managed Services Managing Director Ben Todd, and Marketing and Communications Manager Jenny Piazza who work at the Northampton-based business are both set to race in the Great North Run on the 8th September 2024 to raise money for the business’ homeless charity partner, Centrepoint.

Travis Perkins Managed Services operates at the heart of UK housing, and through its work understands the impact a warm and safe home can have on individuals and families. It aims to help its charity partner Centrepoint in its mission to bring an end to youth homelessness across the UK.

Ben Todd is set to run the Great North Run for the fourth time. Ben, who is based in Leicestershire, is looking forward to going back to the North-East and says: “I’m absolutely buzzing for the atmosphere on race day. They say the North-East hospitality is legendary, but let me tell you, the Great North Run takes it to a whole new level. Thirteen point one miles of locals lining the streets, cheering us on, doling out sweets, and just being downright fantastic – now that’s what I call a run worth getting excited about!”

Jenny who is based in Northampton is originally from Co. Durham, has lots of family ties in the North East. Jenny was inspired to undertake the thirteen miler after completing the Couch to 5K programme and being inspired by watching the iconic race on television. Jenny says: “Although I wouldn’t classify myself as a runner I love to watch the Great North Run on the television and spot all the sights around Newcastle and Gateshead. My sister has completed it twice. I started a Couch to 5k programme in January 2024 and on a whim thought I would enter as it would give me a goal to work towards. I’m also super competitive and I wanted to see if I could match my sister's time!”

Ben Todd says of supporting Centrepoint: “When Travis Perkins Managed Services first introduced me to their partnership with Centrepoint, I couldn’t help but be moved by the incredible impact they have on homeless youth. Hearing the stories of lives transformed and communities uplifted – it’s hard not to feel inspired to lace up those shoes for a cause as worthy as this.”

Jenny says: “Centrepoint aims to end youth homelessness in the UK and they make a real difference in the communities we work with. In the last year, I’ve been able to support housing refurbishment projects, careers and skills days, and now I’m proud to be raising funds by running.”
